SUMMARY:THE HAUNTED ORCHESTRA: INSPIRATION HALL
DESCRIPTION:Duuun dun. Wear the costume.\nA Halloween concert for every age\, with a costume contest and prizes.\nDuuun dun. \nDuuun dun. \nDun dun dun dun dun dun… \nYou know exactly what that is. So does everyone else in the room\, from the kid in the shark costume to Grandpa in the third row. And when a full orchestra plays it live\, a few feet in front of you\, you don’t just hear it. You feel it. \nThe drums land in your chest. The low brass rumbles up through your seat. The strings send a shiver right up your arms. That’s The Haunted Orchestra: a Saturday-morning Halloween concert with The Syracuse Orchestra\, and the spookiest\, silliest\, loudest way to kick off Halloween week. \nLook around and you’ll see it. A tiny pumpkin bouncing on Grandma’s lap. A big brother pretending he isn’t scared of the shark part. A dragon and a ballerina who’ve given up on sitting and are dancing in the aisle. \nDress up. There are prizes. \nEvery show has a costume contest\, with prizes. One week before Halloween\, it’s the perfect dress rehearsal. Homemade\, store-bought\, or held together with safety pins\, wear it. Costumes are welcome on grown-ups too. \nBring everybody \nThe neighbor with the preschoolers. The family friend who starts decorating in September. Grandma. Grandpa. Anyone who’s ever loved Halloween. \nCostumes welcome. Everybody’s welcome. \nGrown-ups\, come back tonight. Halloween by Candlelight is at 7:00 PM\, same building. \n\nGOOD TO KNOW\nWho’s it for? Everybody. Babies\, big kids\, grown-ups\, grandparents. \nHow long is it? About 30 minutes\, no intermission. \nWhich show should we pick? Same show at 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Pick the one that fits around naps and lunch. \nWhat should we wear? A costume\, if you’ve got one. Otherwise\, whatever’s comfortable. \nWhen should we get there? Doors open 30 minutes before the show. Costume contest check-in at the door. \n\nWHAT YOU’LL HEAR\nJaws (John Williams): The shark music. You’ll know it in two notes. \nDanse Macabre (Saint-Saëns): The harp strikes midnight. A violin\, tuned a little wrong on purpose\, starts to play. And the skeletons get up to dance. \nDances of Transylvania (Bartók): Folk dances from Transylvania. Yes\, Dracula’s Transylvania. \nThis Is Halloween (Danny Elfman): From The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you know it\, you know it. \nIn the Hall of the Mountain King (Grieg): Starts on tiptoe\, then gets faster and louder until it’s racing and the whole room is racing with it. \n\nTHANK YOU TO OUR SERIES SPONSORS!\n \nTitle Sponsor \n \nExclusive Auto Sponsor \nTHANK YOU TO OUR CONCERT SPONSORS\nTHE RAPHAEL FAMILY\n \n  \n
