SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Symphoria, Central New York’s professional symphony orchestra begins its seventh full season with All Brahms, featuring virtuoso pianist Orion Weiss on Saturday September 21st, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at Crouse Hinds Concert Theater at Oncenter in Syracuse, NY.
Led by music director Lawrence Loh, the performance will begin with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture. Orion Weiss then joins Symphoria to perform Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1. Weiss has been described as “…an effortlessly brilliant performer. …With technique to burn and strongly personable energy” by the Arizona Republic. Weiss, who was the Classical Recording Foundation’s Young Artist of the Year in 2010, has performed with performances with orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, and Boston Symphony Orchestras. This performance will mark his second appearance with Symphoria, after first performing during the 2015-16 season.
To pair with this work, the orchestra will perform Brahms’ Symphony No. 4.
The symphony, often times regarded as focused on tragedy and darkness, is a true musical journey for listeners. Beginning with intensity and darkness, transformation continues throughout the work, including moments that appear almost joyous. Brahms mastery of symphonic technique is on full display through his final symphony.

Single tickets for the 2019-20 concerts range from $20 to $90. Admission is free for kids 18 and younger and only $5 for college students with a valid student ID.
