MEET THE ORCHESTRA
AMY CHRISTIAN | violin
Amy Christian, violinist. Amy currently serves as the Principal Second Violin of The Syracuse Orchestra and is the former Principal Second Violin of the Binghamton Philharmonic. She was also Concertmaster of the Tri-Cities Opera and the BC Pops, and was Assistant Concertmaster of the Catskill Symphony Orchestra for over a decade. She recently retired from Cornell after teaching violin there for ten years, but she continues to have a private teaching studio. She received her undergraduate performance degree from Indiana University and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the Eastman School of Music and CUNY Graduate Center respectively. Her major teachers were Franco Gulli, Charles Castleman, and Daniel Phillips. During the summer, she serves as Dean of the Castleman Quartet Program. She enjoys reading, beading, and being by the water.
