MEET THE ORCHESTRA
BATMYAGMAR ERDENEBAT | viola
A native of Ulaanbaatar, Batmyagmar Erdenebat was introduced to classical music at age of 6 and was encouraged by his first teacher to take up the viola. Mr. Erdenebat’s travels took him to Italy in his teen years to study with Trio di Trieste and Trio di Parma, giving solo recitals in Duino, Trieste, and Pistoia (Italy), as well as chamber music performances with the Adriatic String Quartet in Croatia, Austria, and throughout Italy.
Batmyagmar came to the United States in 2009 and has performed in OH, MA, CT, TX, Washington D.C, and NYC including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Avery Fisher Hall with the Oberlin Illumination Tour Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra and TÕN. With the Adriatic String Quartet, he won top prizes at La Musica Nella Scuola and Paolo Spincich competitions in Italy. He was awarded second prize at the American Viola Society Orchestral Excerpts Competition in 2013.
A graduate of the Music and Dance College of Mongolia, The United World College of Adriatic, and Oberlin Conservatory. He holds a Master of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music where he studied with Ettore Cause, and an Advanced Certificate in Orchestral Studies from “The Orchestra Now” at Bard College.
