BENJAMIN MYGATT | violin
Benjamin Mygatt is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina currently living in Syracuse, New York. In 2023, he completed a Master’s in Classical Performance with a minor in Historical Performance Practice at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, Switzerland, where he studied with Corina Belcea. Benjamin received his Bachelor of Arts in Music and Mathematics from Williams College in 2020, studying under Joanna Kurkowicz. Other important mentors include Meret Lüthi, David Eggert, Muneko Otani, Ah Ling Neu, and Ronald Feldman. He has taken master classes with Eugene Drucker, Paul Katz, the Dover String Quartet, the Takács String Quartet, and the Amernet Quartet, among others. In 2018, he was a winner of the Berkshire Symphony Soloist Competition, playing the Shostakovich Violin Concerto in A minor.
An avid chamber musician, Benjamin has had quartet engagements at venues including Lincoln Center and BargeMusic in NYC. In addition to a performance career, he works part-time at the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute, a non-profit providing chamber music education and performance opportunities to students in central North Carolina.
