MEET THE ORCHESTRA

CHRISTOPHER STORK | violin

Violinist Christopher Stork, originally from Plainfield, Vermont, joined the Syracuse
Symphony Orchestra in 2025. He previously served as Principal Second Violin of
the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra from 2021 to 2025 and held the same role
at the Opera in the Ozarks festival in Arkansas, leading the section for the summer
of 2025.

A dedicated chamber musician, Chris was the second violinist of the Iceberg
String Quartet from 2018–2020. The ensemble held residencies at the Banff
Centre, the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, Toronto Summer Music Festival, and
Bowdoin International Music Festival. They earned top honors at the McGill
Chamber Music Competition (2018), were finalists at the Chesapeake International
Chamber Music Competition (2020), and semi-finalists at the Young Concert
Artists Competition (2019). He has also performed with the resident piano trio at
the Zodiac Music Festival in France and toured with the Vermont Mozart Chamber
Players.

Chris’s orchestral experience includes serving as Concertmaster of the McGill
Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Principal Second of the Glens Falls Symphony
Orchestra. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Thunder Bay Symphony, the
Vermont Philharmonic, the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival, and the Hinesburg
Artist Series.

He was a pre-college Honors student at the Mannes School of Music in New York
City and holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from McGill University’s
Schulich School of Music. His principal mentors include Andrew Wan, Alexander
Read, Mark Fewer, Sally Thomas, and Elizabeth Reid.

When he’s not performing or teaching, Chris enjoys bodybuilding, playing
Nintendo, and taking long (and often dramatic) walks with his corgi, Bowser — who
insists on being the real star of the show. He believes a good practice session is
best followed by a protein shake and a boss battle.
