MEET THE ORCHESTRA

Hyeonjeong Choi is the Principal Flutist of The Syracuse Orchestra. A native of South Korea,
she has established a versatile and distinguished career as an orchestral musician, solo
artist, and chamber musician.
An acclaimed competitor on the international stage, Choi was invited as a candidate for the
prestigious 2026 Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition. Her extensive list of accolades
includes winning First Prize and the Best Performance of a Newly Commissioned Work at
the 2025 National Flute Association (NFA) Young Artist Competition, as well as Second Prize
at the 2023 Philadelphia Flute Society Young Artist Competition. In South Korea, she won
the Hanyang University Concerto Competition, which led to a featured solo performance of
Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 in G major with the Hanyang University Orchestra.
As a dynamic ensemble player, Choi’s orchestral experience includes performing with the
Houston Symphony, Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and
the New World Symphony. Her festival appearances feature prestigious invitations to the
Pacific Music Festival and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Equally passionate about
chamber music, she also won back-to-back titles at the Yale Chamber Music Competition in
both 2022 and 2023.
Choi holds Master of Music degrees from the Yale School of Music and Rice University’s
Shepherd School of Music, studying under Ransom Wilson and Marianne Gedigian. She
earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Hanyang University, under Gloria Jeeeun Park.
