MEET THE ORCHESTRA
MICHAEL HALBROOK | viola
Italian-American violist Michael Halbrook joined the Syracuse Orchestra as Principal Viola in 2025. He received his Bachelors of Music from the University of South Carolina with Dr. Daniel Sweaney and his Masters of Music at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University with Victoria Chiang. Other important mentors and teachers include Thomas Riebl and Choong-Jin Chang.
A busy performer, Michael has performed in some of the foremost venues in the country. He continues to play chamber music and with orchestras internationally in Canada, Austria, Germany, and Italy.
Outside of music, Michael is completely obsessed with football (soccer), loves playing video games, and plows through a different hobby every 4-5 months, most recently being pickleball.
