MEET THE ORCHESTRA
OLIVIA MOADDEL | violin
Olivia Moaddel is an accomplished violinist who began studying the instrument at the age of four. She has won numerous competitions, including the Lancaster International Piano Festival performing 20th Century Music and was recently a finalist in the NACO Bursary Competition. In addition, she has performed with several professional orchestras, including the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and Symphony in C. She performs with The Syracuse Orchestra and Binghamton Symphony as well as with orchestras in the Hudson Valley region including the Greater Newburgh Symphony, Woodstock Symphony, and is concertmaster and manager for the Northern Dutchess Symphony. Moaddel has also played in masterclasses with several renowned artists such as James Ehnes and Augustin Hadelich and in March of 2021 performed Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence” alongside renowned musicians Axel Strauss, Joel Quarrington, Rachel Mercer and Paul Marelyn. She holds degrees from The Hartt School, University of Ottawa, and in 2024 graduated with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from Rutgers University. Moaddel also attended OAcademy Live where she received an accelerated artist diploma in orchestral playing in June of 2023. She held a violin studio and was the Assistant Director at the Bard Preparatory Division during the 2024-2025 academic year. She has a private violin studio at her home in which she plans to continue and grow in the coming years. She resides in the Hudson Valley with her husband and is very passionate about continuing to share beautiful music both in teaching and performing
