MEET THE ORCHESTRA

QIYUE HE | violin

Qiyue He is a violinist from Beijing, China, whose passion for music brought her to study and
perform in the US, France, and Canada. Qiyue currently resides in Rochester, NY, where she is
mentored by Wilfredo Degláns, former associate concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic
Orchestra. Qiyue received her Master of Music from the University of Toronto, her Bachelor’s
degree from the University of Rochester, and additional music training at EAMA Summer Music
Institute in Paris, France. She has studied violin and chamber music with Jonathan Crow, Ilya
Kaler, and Émile Naoumoff.
As a performer, Qiyue has appeared with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada
through its mentorship program, the Oakville Symphony as the De Clara Young Artist, and the
Niagara Symphony Orchestra. Qiyue enjoys sharing music and joy with her local communities.
She holds recitals regularly at her church, collaborating with her pianist husband Kevin Wang,
and performs extensively at theatres, senior homes, and schools.
Outside of music, Qiyue is a pet parent to a rabbit and three guinea pigs. She also loves baking
and playing board games.
