Make your concert an evening as a Syracuse Orchestra Insider, and enjoy our exclusive pre-concert gathering at 6 p.m. in the Banner Room at the Oncenter. At 7:30 p.m. the Syracuse Orchestra performs a video-game inspired trombone concerto and more. Get an up close look at some of the unique instruments that add the driving rhythms, heroic themes and electronic textures inspired by video-gaming music with Principal Percussionist Michael Bull. Michael told us, “Not only is this piece scored for almost all of the traditional percussion instruments, it has a few exotic ones as well. 3 Big Chinese Drums (Bian gu), a set of 5 Paigu drums (Chinese tuned drums), a waterphone and water drips. Also, included are wind chimes, Mark Tree, slapstick and drumset. Just about the only thing we won’t have onstage is the kitchen sink!”
